We Got Ringo. Yes, That Ringo.

It took over a year of emails, calls, more emails, more calls, and at least one dramatic reading of Yellow Submarine to a room full of students—but we did it. Sir Ringo Starr, legendary drummer of The Beatles and the original ambassador of “Peace and Love,” sat down (virtually) with our Young Citizens of the World network.

He spoke directly to our 1.25 million students and teachers around the globe, reminding us that kindness, creativity, and a good beat can still change the world. He even got to see the beautiful cards made by our Grade 5s and reacted with the same joy you'd expect from someone who’s seen it all—and somehow still believes in the next generation.

We hope this short but unforgettable interview inspires you as much as it inspired us. Please watch it, share it, and let Ringo’s message echo far beyond the drum set:

And now, we invite all of you—students, teachers, parents, friends—to join Ringo in his lifelong campaign. On July 7th, his birthday, help us fill the world with kindness by celebrating #PeaceAndLoveDay wherever you are. Take a moment at 12 noon, in your local time zone, to simply say or share "Peace and Love."

Snap a photo, post a message, make a sign, or dance to Octopus’s Garden in the middle of your living room—whatever you do, make it joyful. And don’t forget to tag it #PeaceAndLoveDay.

Peace and love,
The YCW Team
